That’s the problem with Lana Del Rey’s bandwagon. They don’t seem to get that her image was created by label heads and her daddy’s billions. There’s nothing authentic about her and even she says that she doesn’t want to be famous, which is funny considering she signed a huge record deal.
I agree. Admittedly, I am transfixed by some of her songs, but I don’t kid myself that she is genuine or authentic—particularly owing to the fact that iTunes took down her first album that was released under her original name, Lizzie something or other, after BTD got traction. She’ll probably be huge this next year, and I don’t mind that because I’d like to see what she can do, if in fact, that’s anything at all. I mean, if the “gangster Nancy Sinatra” can somehow become a little less of an “uncharismatic talent show performer”-type, I’d be intrigued and interested. For the time being, people need to stop for a moment and check their premises before labeling her a breakthrough.
