apparently christopher plummer really hated making the sound of music and would get drunk a lot when off set. in his memoir (yes i’ve read it, no i’m not ashamed) plummer said he gained a lot of weight throughout the film and they had to refit his costumes quite a bit.
but let’s be honest: if i had to sing ‘climb every mountain’ more than once a day i’d be an alcoholic, too.
